Research Interests:

My research involves using DNA markers to identify how individual marine organisms are related. This information lets us know more about how larvae disperse, how selection influences diversity within species, and when there are actually more species in a habitat than can be identified visually. I typically work on marine or other aquatic animals, and lately have been studying how genetic diversity influences the tolerance to disease in a beautiful Pacific coast sea star.
